Anyone know a good schedule software for basic everyday events and keeping my homework assignments in order?

Well i have a buzy year this year in college. And im looking for a good basic/simply program that acts as a calender on my cpu. All i want to do is schedule events such as *Hair cut – 3:30* and *homework – read pages 1-6*
Something that will go on as a desktop icon and is safe and simple

Well if you’ve got a mac use iCal otherwise can;t help/
